Grow Your Retail Business With Email Marketing

Grow Your Retail Business With Email marketing, Uncategorized 1 Comment »

I have been talking with a lot of retailers recently and all are saying the same thing, “We would love more sales”, so when I read this article ” Email Marketing drives more online sales” by Andrew Robinson of Lyris UK I felt the subject was very appropriate, and could be of great benefit to an industry doing it very tough at the moment.

Despite the troubling economy, many online retailers are continuing to prosper. One key reason: these marketers’ innovative use of email.

Online shoppers are becoming much more savvy and are a lot more interested in finding out about the range of offers available to them before they decide what to buy. The best-designed email marketing campaigns, then, are those that pinpoint the particular interests of customers and provides them with information and offers in a very timely and increasingly sophisticated manner. Whereas online retailers used to rely on clues such as shoppers abandoning the process at the shopping basket stage, they now look for less intrusive indicators of interest such as regular visits to a particular category of products. Have You Considered Blogging For Business?

Uncategorized No Comments »

Have you considered blogging for business? is a question I ask almost every client I spend any time with who tells me that he paid a fortune for a website which is not bringing in much traffic let alone sales.

The problem as I see it, is that most small businesses invest a lot of money in a website and expect that all they have to do is publish the site and the sales will come. Sadly it doesn’t work like that, your website is a good start but there are many other techniques you need to utilize in order for your site to be recognized and indexed by the search engines, and one of the best is blogging. Do You Tell Your Customers What You Want Them To Do?

Uncategorized 1 Comment »

Do you tell your customers what you want them to do? I know most of you don’t.

I was doing some research in my loca Canberra Google pages for a client I am working with, and noticed after checking out 15 competitors that not one of them (client included) tell their customers what to do, in other words ask for the sale,

Some of these websites looked terrific lots of pictures, plenty of information about the products, and in some cases  even a shopping cart at the very bottom of the page, but no one was giving any instructions on what they wanted the reader to do. If you don’t tell your customers what you want them to do, they will leave your site and you have possibly lost a sale.

If you are selling a product or service online then you need a call to action, you must tell your customers what you want them to do.

How To Improve Your Customers Online Experience

Online Marketing No Comments »

The Idea (Institute for Dynamic Educational Advancement) recently released results from their Factors That Improve Online Experiences survey. With importance on visual design and ease of use, the report points out areas where many websites are lacking and spoiling user experience.

The report examines the gap between what websites offer and what visitors are looking for.and one of the major differences is that a visitors expectation is much higher than that of the designer, and that the designer underestimates the objectives for an efficient site.

Visitors want to find information as quickly and easily as possible and don’t want to  get lost in the site. Ease of finding information is the key to your visitors having an enjoyable experience at your site.

Visitors  point to the lack of site content as  causing an “Information” gap.

If  all you do is just take a look at the executive summary, or download the full report, you could be making   your customers’ online experience a lot more enjoyable.

How Much Money Are You Losing On The Internet

Online Marketing No Comments »

How much money are you losing on the internet? Brick and mortar businesses going online are being robbed blind by web designers who build sites that couldn’t sell water to a dying man  in the desert.

Almost without exception, I have discovered that many of my clients  have paid thousands of dollars to have a website built for them which brings in very little traffic

Having a website in the first place is so you can get visitors to purchase your services and products, and in order to get the results we are after we need to learn how to market on the internet which is quite different from regular marketing strategies.

One of these strategies is called Search Engine Optimization or SEO

Search engine optimisation is a specialsed area and takes many  years and a lot of time to learn how to market correctly.  The internet is constantly changing and search engine specialists need to keep up to date so that they can keep their customer’s marketing strategies updated.

Three important factors for search engine optimization are;
1. Keyword research:
, Extremely time consuming and is where are many marketers make mistakes.   Choosing the wrong keyword can  be the difference between  a profit or a loss.

2, Email marketing:
If you’re not using your email as a marketing tool you could be losing out on thousands of dollars.  When I talk about email marketing I mean that the people you are contacting have given you permission to send them emails.

3.  Articles/Blogs:
Also very time consuming, but a very effective way to create your online presence, the more articles you write and the more niche markets you can find the more money you are likely to earn.

If you need to fix your car, you take it to a  Mechanic and not to a TV repair man. The same thing applies  with  your online marketing, unless your web designer is a a search engine  optimisation specialist, you don’t leave your online marketing in his  hands, all you will be doing is forking out even more money for  at best, minimal results.

Web Hosting, Are You Being Ripped Off?

Uncategorized No Comments »

Web Hosting, Are You Being Ripped Off?

The subject, web hosting, are you being ripped off? came about after listening to a very cranky client who said her “web designer saw her coming” and as far as her web hosting is concerned she has been ripped off.

Let me say right from the beginning if you want a top web host with great service, I have been using and recommend Hostgator for the last three years, they are not the cheapest, but its the old story, “You get what you pay for”.

It turns out that this lady has three websites, they’re very similar but have different names and content, and she is paying $300 a year in web hosting for each website.

Is she being ripped off, I think so, $900 a year for web hosting is ridiculous, and just in case the same thing is happening to you, following is some information you should know when setting up  web hosting:

1.   Web hosting should cost  no more than $7.95 a month, you can get cheaper but they are not always reliable.

2.  Since it is part of your web designers job to set up your web hosting, and he may have to  access your site at some stage during the year, it is in your interest to negotiate a  reasonable price with him before he does the work for you..

3.  If you are going to add  more websites to your host company, ask your web designer about  sub-directories.  Most host companies allow unlimited sub-directories,  meaning that if you want to you can add any number of websites and you should be able to do this for free. Since your web designer does not have to pay anything extra and it only takes 10 to 15 minutes of his time to set it up, the charge to do so should be minimal.

4.  You can pay your hosting yearly or by the month.

5.  Make sure that you ask your web designer who he is hosting your website with and then  go and check out the company for yourself.

If only takes a little time to find out and in investigate the company your web designer is using to manage your website. It’s likely you will be paying a lot of money for your website so doesn’t  it make sense to know where your money is going?

Using Your Business Cards To Create Huge Profits

Uncategorized 2 Comments »

Using your business cards to create huge profits was a subject my friends and I found ourselves discussing over a glass of Canberra’s finest red. One of the group started the conversation by saying that business cards were a waste of money, that we spend time going to various networking functions to give away cards which will get chucked in the garbage or at best go into someones card box,

This got us brainstorming about how we can start using business cards to create huge profits. During the discussion it became quite clear that the instigator of the discussion was quite right, we do not use business cards to increase our profits, mostly we forget about them until we have a need for their service or product or we bombard them with information about our product often driving them nuts.

As we continued to talk around the table it became quite obvious that only one person was using their business cards to create profits and he was more than happy to tell us what he does, so here’s the story:

Whenever he collects a business card he asks the person if he can add their name to his e-mail list, he goes on to explain that he provides a monthly newsletter which includes a free report and if they don’t like the newsletter they can unsubscribe at any time.. When he returns to his office he e-mails the newsletter to his new contact. His newsletters are not sales pitches he is providing valuable information to his subscribers with the intention of building a relationship with them.

He certainly had our attention, isn’t it considered spam to just send out hundreds of emails? It Is, do NOT do this, he uses a reputable email marketing company called Aweber and can send out as many emails as he wishes without worrying about the consequences. He writes his newsletter 6 months in advance loads them into his Aweber autoresponder and they are automatically emailed on the day he nominates.

But here’s the best bit, he now has over 6,000 clients in his data base, whenever he sends out his newsletter he increases his sales by 2% and since his minimum sale is $59.95 that means he is making an extra $7194.00 a month from his current clients

It does not matter what business you are in if you are not building a list of your current clients then you could be throwing away thousand of dollars every month.

Doesn’t it make sense to start using your business cards to create huge profits
